I've spent hours scrolling through TikTok, Pinterest and Instagram gathering cute WFH office inspiration!
After having recently moved house, I have a blank canvas to create my perfect, cozy, pastel home office/craft room/spare room.
So, here are some of the plans I have for my dream office:
The desk
I couldn't find a desk that was the right size and style for the space so I am making my own! Obviously that means a trip to IKEA!
Here's what I'm going to be using:
ALEX drawer units
I've seen a lot of people on Instagram using the ALEX drawers from IKEA for their desk or in their office space and decided that it was the perfect combination of practical and sleek. I might do a future hack to change the fronts to make it a little bit cuter but that's a future plan.
ECKBACKEN worktop
I decided not to go for the desk tops that IKEA offer and instead chose one of their kitchen worktops. This worktop is the perfect length for the space and is a little deeper than standard desktops at 63.5 cm.
Desk Pad
To add some colour and warmth to the desk I've bought myself a sage green desk pad. I chose this dual sided 31.5" x 15.7" DOBAOJIA Desk Pad from Amazon.
Epomaker Skyloong SK61 Mechanical Keyboard
This keyboard is very pretty and reasonably priced compared to other mechanical keyboards! I got it in white and pink with gateron optical brown switches. One of the bonuses about this keyboard is that it is hot swappable, meaning it is highly customisable. I got the SK61 which is wired as it was a bit cheaper than the wireless bluetooth version.
The chair!
Ugh, the chair! I must have spent days searching for the perfect chair. I wanted something supportive and comfortable as well as aesthetically pleasing, preferably in a pastel or beige. That was apparently far too much to ask for without draining my bank account, so I settled on two of the three criteria: comfort and aesthetics (ish). I decided on this Mireille recliner chair with a manual footrest from Ryman. Perfect for hours of writing and creating at a desk! My main issue with the chair is the colour... it's grey and I'm really not a big fan of grey. As a future project I might see if I can reupholster it.
Cushions, Curtains and Throws
My favourite part of decorating is adding all the cute soft furnishings.
So, here is what I've bought:
MOALISA pale pink curtains from IKEA
Large daisy seat pillow from Amazon
Mushroom mochi plushie by Smoko
Paint
Finally, I would love to create a feature wall behind my desk that continues into the ceiling. Here are some rooms that I'm inspired by:
I'll be working on my office over the next few months, collecting all the pieces and doing some DIY to create my dream room!
What would you have in your dream WFH office?
